　　讓所有生命同樣精彩—上海燎原實驗學校英文部新學期校長寄語！尊敬的各位老師、親愛的各位同學們：

　　Dear teachers and students :

　　歡迎大家回歸燎原雙語這個溫暖的大家庭！

　　Welcome back to this warm family !

　　我了解到，這個暑期，很多同學過得非常有意義。無論是海外夏令營還是在國內補習，大家除了簡單享受閑暇時光之外，更多地是利用這寶貴的暑期積極進行自我提升，我真心為大家的進步而高興。

　　I noticed that many students just had a very meaningful summer holiday. Besides enjoy some leisure time, many of you improved yourself greatly during this precious break. I am so happy for your improvement.


　　然而，我也了解到：少部分同學并沒有讓自己的暑期充實起來，而是過著今朝有酒今朝醉的日子。轉眼醒來，已是九月開學的日子。“公道世間唯白發，貴人頭上不曾饒。”同學們，時間不會因為你年少輕狂就不去招惹你，更不會因為你富貴高傲就繞開你。“百川東到海，何時復西歸？”如果我們不懂得珍惜當下，就會“莫等閑、白了少年頭，空悲切。”

　　However, I also got aware of several students who wasted a lot of time in sleeping and playing games but suddenly discovered today is September 1. Time is fair to all: “Only your grey hair can indicate the fairness of time no matter you are rich or poor”. “Thousands of rivers flow eastward to the sea, when will they flow backward?” If we do not cherish the current moment, we will definitely feel sorry for the waste of time when we get old.

　　當然，我們今天更應該為那些較優的同學點贊喝彩。因為他們真實地度過了當下每一秒鐘，從而使青春無悔。你們的努力不僅僅讓自己的生命每天都精彩紛呈，還照亮周圍的每一個伙伴，影響著大家的生命。這也是我們燎原雙語一直所倡導的：讓所有生命同樣精彩！

　　We cheer for those who made effort because they are shining the world bright while making themselves outstanding. This is what Liaoyuan Bilingual School has been advocating: making difference of the world

　　新的學期，大家看到了很多新的變化，我們有新的教師、新的課程、新的同學和新的活動安排，但任何外在的變化都不及你內心深處堅定的信念。我希望同學們此刻都可以堅定地告訴自己：本學年，唯有我自己可以改變我的未來。我一定會活出精彩！學出成績！豐實生命！世間沒有什么比堅定的信念更可寶貴的東西，老師祈愿同學們永遠擁有這樣的信念。

　　You might see a lot of new changes in the new school year like new teachers, new curriculum, new classmates and new events schedule. But no change could be better than your determined belief that will surely change your future. I wish you all tell yourself now that only you could make difference for yourself. You are to shine here and lighten the world to make your life more valuable. I am here praying for you: May this strong belief be with you in all your life.

　　對于為“走出國門”而積極拼搏的同學們，我特別想提醒以下幾點：

　　To all my students who are seeking for overseas learning in the future,I have the following reminders:

　　1.除了卓越的學術，大家需要具備的是“智慧”而不是“小聰明”。兩者之間有著天壤之別。中國不缺少聰明的孩子，卻極其缺少智慧的孩子。燎原學子，一定要收獲智慧。至于什么是智慧，讓我們在新學年里一起去探索吧。

　　Besides academic excellence, wisdom is the most important thing you should seek for.  Being clever and being wise are totally different.  In China, we have too many clever children. But we need urgently many more wise students. Since you are here in our school, you should be determined to acquire wisdom. Let’s explore together what wisdom is in this coming school year.

　　2.無論你成績如何較優，失去善良，你就失去了幸福。我不相信一個自私的孩子會有什么幸福可言。真正的幸福，來自自利利他的行為和勇敢擔當的態度。面對任何境況，都不要失去你對“人間正道”的堅守。

　　No matter how excellent you academic performance is, if you lose goodness, you will never be happy. I don’t believe a selfish people could enjoy happiness. Real happiness is from the action to benefit the world and the attitude to undertake responsibilities. No matter what difficult situation you are to face in the future, please stick to the fundamental principle: be good and do right.

　　3.盡管我們學習國際課程，但請堅守你的“民族本色”。國際化，本身就離不開中國智慧。只有民族的才是世界的。中國智慧已經越來越受到世界的關注，如果此刻你丟掉寶藏，會發現你所得到的僅僅是一片沙漠。

　　Though we are learning International Program, please keep your national uniqueness. Internationalization will lose its nature without Chinese wisdom. Chinese wisdom is attracting more and more attention from the whole world. If you lose it now, you will find out later that you are actually losing your root.

　　4.盡管我們希望大家快樂學習，但請不要曲解“快樂學習”的內涵。沒有熱愛，沒有辛苦的付出，僅僅認為輕松就可以快樂的話，你會發現自己大錯特錯。無論是學習還是事業，快樂一定是來自熱愛并為之付出艱辛的努力。彩虹總在風雨之后。

　　Though we wish you are learning happily, please never misinterpret our meaning.Without love and pains taking effort, we can never actually enjoy the pleasure of learning, as you can only see the rainbow after storm and raining.

　　5.美好的夢想誰都可以有，但前進的路上需要你堅定的心力和持久的精進。不要因為偶爾懈怠甚至沮喪就想放棄，因為人人都會遇到這種困境。令偉人偉大的不是他們的好運，而是他們對待消極情緒和困難的心力，使他們積極樂觀地放下悲觀情緒，輕松愉快地繼續前行的心態。你，與所有的偉人只有一念之差。

　　Everybody has the right to dream big. But you need determination and perseverance to make your dream true. We are human being and it is natural if you experience the time when you feel depressed and want to just give up. Keep this in mind that what makes great man great is not their luck but their attitude facing pressure and obstacles. You could be positive for each moment; you could be negative and give up facing difficulties. There is only one tiny difference between you and the great man.

　　6.這是一個任性的年代，但請讓你的才華配得上你的任性。酷不是裝出來的，更不是井底之蛙一廂情愿的自我陶醉。酷是放下虛假的自我，放下虛偽的面子，踏踏實實地遵循“大道至簡，道法自然”的規律。勇面困難，不妄青春。

　　This is the age of individualism and young people tend to be moreself-willed. However, I wish to remind you that your self-willing should be equipped with your talents. Being cool doesn’t mean superficialself-satisfaction. You need to give up your hypocritical ego and follow the earnest rule to face all challenges.

　　“長風破浪會有時，直掛云帆濟滄海。”燎原全體老師，愿陪伴同學們在新學期勇敢地揚帆起航。只是需要提醒大家：風大浪急，能保護你們的，除了老師，還有你們自己。

　　“A time will come to ride the wind and cleave the waves; I’ll set my cloudlike sail to cross the sea which raves.” All teachers in Liaoyuan School are willing to accompany you to sail to your future. However I wish to remind you that the waves are dangerous. Besides teachers, you are the best ones to take care of yourselves.

　　祝愿大家速速啟航，早抵彼岸。
